BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Kimberly Cooper, the daughter of a couple killed in a drunk driving crash attended Thursday’s sentencing of the man responsible for her parents death.

“I’m relieved it’s over, finally, we finally have some closure,” said Cooper. “I’m not completely happy with what he got, but I don’t think I ever would be.”

Her parents, who lived in Tarrant City, were on their way home from a Wednesday night Bible study on Dec. 13 of 2017 went they were killed in a head on collision, according to District Attorney Pamela Case.

Thursday morning, 28-year-old Jacob Doyle was sentenced to 25 years on two counts of reckless murder. He was also sentenced to 180 days on a charge of driving under the influence. Judge Greg Reid ruled they are to be served at the same time.
