The Carmel Fire Department and Carmel Police Department recently launched a Car Seat Sticker program to aid first responders in emergency situations.

Announced Aug. 7 and funded by the Carmel City Council, the program is intended to provide critical information to first responders in emergencies involving young children.

The program provides parents and guardians with two types of stickers. An information sticker and an alert sticker.

The information alert sticker should be placed on the back of a car seat or another protected area in the vehicle, which allows parents or guardians to provide health-related information to first responders.

The alert sticker is recommended for placement in multiple areas near the information sticker, such as a window, door jam or door frame, to serve as
