The City Council is expected to move ahead with an ambitious rezoning of neighborhoods in Midtown South after the Land Use subcommittee unanimously approved the plan Wednesday.
The proposal looks to change the zoning rules of four different sections between 23rd and 40th streets.
It’s projected to create more than 9,500 homes, with more than 2,800 of them being permanently affordable.
The council is also investing $488 million in the nearby community and businesses in the Garment District.
