CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Crime and keeping juveniles safe are what are said to be at the center of changes to the curfew, according to Council Member Anna Albi.

Albi explained that the goal is not to incriminate any youth, but to make sure they make it home safely each night.

“To me, it’s really that enforcement piece is unlocking the process to make sure that this has good outcomes and that we are not causing any other unintended consequences,” Albi said.

Right now, unaccompanied minors under 18 are not allowed on city streets in Cincinnati after 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.

This change is because of recent updates to the city’s youth curfew ordinance.

In the special curfew district, which includes the Banks and Downtown, the curfew is now from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
