CINCINNATI (ENQUIRER) - An Indiana deputy spotted a black Mercedes Benz on June 13 without a standard license plate and pulled it over.

The strangely-worded tag said: “For the detention of this traveler is with the fee of $500,000.00 Gold,” according to court records.

It was this traffic stop on June 13 that got Cincinnati developer Robert Smyjunas arrested in Indiana. He now faces two felony drug charges and two misdemeanors.

But the deputies said it took some time to identify Smyjunas. Only after being asked “approximately 13 different times” did the driver say he went by “Bozo.”

Smyjunas, the man behind Oakley Station and the Millennium Hotel deal, says the traffic stop was illegal, and he was illegally imprisoned.
