A 51-year-old man is accused of attacking one man with a hammer, beating another man with his fists and feet, then fatally shooting a man and a woman, all within days of each other at the same Kent apartment complex last month, according to King County prosecutors.

Alphonzo Kelly, who was known as “Slim” to residents of the Kentwood Apartments in the 22000 block of Benson Road Southeast, was arrested July 16 for the alleged beating and later charged with second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment, court and jail records show. He has been in custody at the King County Jail since then, initially held on $250,000 bail.

Kelly was charged last week with second-degree assault in the hammer attack and two counts of first-degree murder, accused of killing Gary Winston, 34, and Migna Kennebr
