JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - In 2024, seven people were killed and 345 people were injured in traffic crashes involving school buses in Missouri.

Missouri Highway Patrol Troopers are asking students, parents, and drivers to review safety information to keep everyone safe this school year.

Troopers ask students who walk to school use sidewalks and crosswalks and never run into the street. Troopers also ask that students using bicycles wear a helmet and obey traffic signs and signals.

If students ride the bus, it’s important to listen to the bus driver’s instructions and when crossing the street, walk at least 10 feet in front of the bus.

Parents are asked to talk about how to get to school safely, whether their student is walking, driving, or riding the bus.
