PHILADELPHIA — It’s Tanner McKee’s turn to carry on the storied tradition of being the Eagles’ backup quarterback and that should have a lot of people excited, especially after the way he performed during the team’s exhibition opener against the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

With Jalen Hurts and the other offensive starters safely tucked away on the sideline, McKee played the entire first half and one series in the third quarter and was even more sensational than he was last season during his two first two NFL appearances .

He completed 20 of 25 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns while leading the Eagles to scores on four of five possessions. He finished with a 135.3 passer rating and the Eagles led 27-14 when he left the game.
