SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK)-- The Smith County Emergency Management Office hosted their Community Preparedness Night on Thursday to educate residents on how to be prepared for impending disasters.
The event was held at UT Health Northeast in the amphitheater of the main building from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Smith County Emergency Management Coordinator Brandon Moore spoke at the event about recent disasters, public education and training opportunities.
Moore also spoke about opportunities for residents with the Smith County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and how to provide input in the county's Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Residents were also encouraged to sign up for the Rave mass notification system, which allows emergency managers to notify citizens of necessary information in times of
