Texans' C.J. Gardner-Johnson suffers injury, but ACL intact

Houston Texans safety and new acquisition C.J. Gardner-Johnson was injured in practice Thursday.

But the extent of that injury has been the center of a debate.

Initially, several reports came out expressing that Gardner-Johnson had suffered a torn ACL.

Shortly thereafter, however, NFL insiders Adam Schefter Ian Rapoport indicated that Gardner-Johnson's ACL remained intact, but that further tests were needed to determine the extent of the issue.

Tests revealed that Texans safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s ACL is intact, per sources. The Texans still are conducting more testing to determine the extent of the injury but the team is not concerned about his ACL. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 8, 2025
