FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — Ashley Nicole Phillips is in the Lauderdale County Detention Center after being arrested for property theft and 51 counts of identity theft, police say.

According to police, Phillips worked at Cash Express in Florence in 2023. Police said during that time Phillips was opening up people's loans and taking money for herself.

Florence Police also said it was over $40,000 taken, which made about 40 victims in this case.

FPD Spokeperson Joshua Meza said the president of Cash Express noticed an uptick in loans being taken out at the Florence location. The president then did an audit and noticed that things were not matching up.
