HOLLAND, Mich. — The hot weather and lack of rain are taking a toll on the city of Holland.

The U.S. Drought Monitor released Thursday shows the city and its surrounding area is in severe drought.

Mitch Visser is a farmer and co-owner of Crisp Country Acres north of Holland, he said that he’s never seen it this dry, it’s made things tougher for his farm and produce business.

“With the drought, and then, coupled with the high temperatures, it just evaporates so quickly, and that just adds to the everyday workload, because you can't stop irrigating," Visser said. "You just have to keep giving everything a little drink of water to keep everything going.”
