HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A high surf advisory has been issued for south shores of all islands for a swell that could push wave heights close to warning levels this weekend.

The National Weather Service has also issued a coastal flooding statement for the possibility of isolated minor coastal inundation due to higher than normal tides combining with the swell.

The high surf advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Waves are expected to rise to 7 to 10 feet Friday and then 10 to 14 feet Saturday, just below the 15-foot high surf warning threshold.

Peak afternoon high tides will combine with elevated water levels that are coming in about half a foot higher than predicted, which will allow the higher waves to wash over normally dry beaches and cause some floodi
