LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two years after the wildfires that devastated Lahaina, renters -- especially those from the Filipino community -- are expressing frustration.

They’re asking for more information on what’s ahead as they struggle with housing.

“I haven’t really had a chance to process and think things through until today,” an emotional Chamille Serrano told an online gathering of the Lahaina Filipino Fire Survivors Association.

Serrano is a bank worker who is among the thousands who lost their homes in the fire.

She and others have been getting housing assistance from FEMA, but rents have been rising -- and the clock is ticking.
