WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Woodford County is one week away from the start of the new school year, but the district faces a new challenge as students come back to the classroom.

With a new school year starting, Woodford County Public Schools has a problem, and they are looking for a solution. The school district ended the 2025 fiscal year with a $2 million deficit.

Lori Jones, the district’s new superintendent, just took over and is well aware of what this means to not only her students but to the community.

“We’re making sure that we’re being transparent with the decisions that we’re making and making sure that we’re being fiscally responsible,“ Jones said.
