ROSEVILLE, Calif. —

A semi-trailer holding strawberries caught fire on Interstate 80 in Roseville on Thursday afternoon, prompting lane closures.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the report of a vehicle fire just before 2:45 p.m. on eastbound I-80 at Eureka Road.

Multiple lanes of eastbound I-80 and the Eureka Road onramp to the interstate were closed due to the fire.

The Roseville Fire Department said only the trailer, which was filled with strawberries, caught fire. A photo posted by the department showed hundreds of charred and blackened strawberries falling out of the smoldering trailer.

Around 3:30 p.m., the fire department said the fire was out, but crews remained on the scene.

No injuries were reported.
