NEW ORLEANS — Think about what happened after Hurricane Katrina. We had evacuated, and so had many in the health care system.
It disrupted our regular doctor visits, and that was a problem for everyone, but especially those with chronic illnesses.
But two former city health directors decided they each needed to do something.
Now, they reminisce about how they managed to get it done.
“Watched all the wind blow the palm trees almost coming over, and all the debris on the patio. We were here when the eye came and then the eye left. Went outside walking around. People were starting to clean up.
