NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Jen Pawol is one of eight female umpires currently in the minor league baseball system. This week, she’s on the field at First Horizon Park working the Nashville Sounds games with her crew.

During her stop in the Music City, she found out she’s going to make her MLB debut this weekend, umpiring games in Atlanta.

Pawol will be the first female to ever umpire a regular season big league game.

“It makes me think I’m doing something right,” said Pawol. “My partners and I are doing something right as a crew, and it makes me want to go out there and work even harder.”

The former college softball catcher first called a game behind the plate when she was 15 years old. From there, she was hooked.
