LORAIN, Ohio — Two weeks after the ambush attack that killed Lorain Police Officer Phillip Wagner and injured Officers Brent Payne and Peter Gale, 3News Investigates has learned preliminary findings by the Lorain County coroner show that the gunman — 28-year-old Michael Parker — died from blood loss and internal injuries.
Parker was shot and killed by responding officers at the scene of the crime. According to the coroner's office, the autopsy found entrance wounds from approximately 12 bullets and shrapnel from the firefight, mainly in his torso area. All of the bullets were from police gunfire, per authorities, with no evidence of any self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Toxicology tests on Parker also revealed no evidence of alcohol, drugs, or medications in his system.
