Rowan-Salisbury Schools students returned to class on Thursday, and while overcast skies might have dampened things, you would not have known it at Carson High School.

Principal Benjamin Crawford greeted arriving students with festive fist bumps underneath a two-story inflatable cougar in front of the school. The fun was just beginning for those students. Upon the ringing of the first bell of the new year, Cougars gathered in the school’s atrium, located just inside the main doors, were showered with confetti blasted by staff on the second floor.
