QUINCY (WGEM) - Thursday, the Quincy Tree Commission met at city hall to discuss plans for the fall tree planting program.
Before the meeting began, Mayor Linda Moore addressed the commission regarding recent plans to remove certain trees within the city.
While speaking, Moore urged the commission to be more selective when planting trees moving forward.
According to Quincy Planning Director Jason Parrott, this will be important when they look at trees along city streets.
“The tree commission’s role in this is really looking at what we consider to be street trees,” Parrott said. “Those are the trees planted between a sidewalk and a curb. Obviously, you want to have those trees in town; they bring so many benefits, but you also have to be cognizant to make sure that if there is overhangi
