SPOKANE, Wash. -- UPDATED 9:45 p.m., August 7 - Two people were stabbed near Spokane City Hall on Thursday evening, according to Spokane Police Department.

Around 6:30 p.m., SPD responded to a reported 'altercation' near Spokane Falls Boulevard and Lincoln Street.

SPD said two people were stabbed and transported to the hospital. One victim sustained serious injuries.

As police arrived, the stabbing suspect made their way to the Post Street Bridge.

As of 9:45 p.m., SPD said officers and crisis negotiation teams are still trying to coax the suspect off the bridge.

Post Street is closed from Broadway to City Hall. Traffic can travel southbound on Monroe from Kendall Yards and River Park Square, but northbound traffic is blocked.
