SPOKANE, Wash. - With wildfires becoming more frequent, the American Red Cross is calling for volunteers to help open shelters quickly.
The Red Cross is offering training to those willing to volunteer. They are seeking individuals with good communication skills who want to support people in critical times.
Free four-hour training sessions will be held across the state. The Red Cross promises participants will leave with the skills needed to operate a shelter.
For those interested, a boot camp is scheduled in Spokane on Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at 315 West Nora Avenue.
