Holidaymakers in certain areas of Majorca and Ibiza are set to be hit with substantial penalties for consuming alcohol in public spaces as authorities crack down on "excessive tourism".
The Balearic Islands government has strengthened legislation that was originally implemented in 2020. Beyond prohibiting drinking on public thoroughfares, the regulations prevent retailers from selling alcohol during late hours and impose stricter restrictions on party vessels.
Tourists caught violating these regulations could be slapped with fines reaching €3,000.

The regulations are enforced across three Majorcan resorts - Llucmajor, Palma and Calvia (Magaluf) - alongside San Antonio in Ibiza.
