NEW BEDFORD – After two-plus nights of expert testimony on the pros and cons of a proposed trash transfer station in the New Bedford Business Park it was time for public comment.
And to the public testifying before the Board of Health at the nearby Pulaski Elementary School the proposal was all cons.
Much like a MassDEP meeting with residents last November - the last opportunity residents got a chance to publicly state their feelings - close to 30 people stood up and said unequivocally the trash plant didn’t belong at the proposed site.
They said the 1,500-ton-per-day trash processing plant proposed by South Coast Renewables would be a detriment to quality of life, and potentially their health and safety, as well, during the Aug. 7 hearing.
