After their first day off in two weeks, the Yankees (61-54, third in AL West) are back in action as they begin an important matchup this weekend at home against the Houston Astros (64-51, first in AL West).

On the verge of losing six games in a row for a third time this season, Yankees reliever David Bednar retired the final five batters to earn his 18th save of the season and his first in Pinstripes in a 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday afternoon in Arlington.

The victory is a small sigh of relief for now, as the Bronx Bombers five-game skid has come to an end before a six-game homestand over the course of the next six days versus the Astros and Minnesota Twins .

The three-game series in the Bronx marks the first meeting between the Yankees and Astros this season
