PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — As debates over transgender student rights continue across the country, Prince William County school leaders are standing firm in their commitment to inclusive policies, but met with legal counsel to figure out what comes next.

This as the as concerns over legal compliance mount.

Prince William, Loudoun, Arlington and Fairfax counties and Alexandria City have been informed that current policies allowing students to use bathrooms and locker rooms aligned with their gender identity are in violation of Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education.

Prince William County is among the Virginia school districts that adopted policies under the previous governor's administration. Those policies, supporters say, remain effective.
