MORGANTOWN – Practice session No. 8 of West Virginia University’s football preseason camp took place Thursday, as the Mountaineers donned full pads for the second time and went through about 20 minutes of full contact.
“I thought the defense got a little bit better today, but I’m not sure the offense took a lot of steps,” WVU coach Rich Rodriguez said shortly after practice concluded. “I think the defense has a pretty good grasp of what we’re doing.”
Following West Virginia’s previous full-contact workout on Tuesday, the coach said his offensive and defensive lines looked like they were “tango dancing” rather than hitting each other. On Thursday, he said he thought he saw improved physicality on the defensive side.
