Police have appealed for help after a thief pretending to be grieving in a cemetery stole two pieces of jewellery from a kind hearted woman who tried to comfort her. The incident happened at The Friary last month.

Officers from Solihull Police are investigating the despicable act, and have shared images of the stolen items and a CCTV still of someone they wish to talk to.

A spokesman for the police said: "Can you help? We’re investigating a theft in Olton. Jewellery was taken from a woman on St. Bernard’s Road on Wednesday 23 July.

"She was at the cemetery at The Friary when she was approached by a woman who appeared to be upset, and as they walked together, the woman put an arm around her and removed two necklaces she was wearing.

"We’re investigating and have stepped up reassurance
