VINELAND — Some South Jersey animal shelters would like to receive more help from the general public, either in money or volunteer assistance, to avoid having to close their doors to accepting new cats or kittens or having to euthanize any animals.

Jessica Morrison, executive director of the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter on North Delsea Drive, finds herself still in the kitten season while facing rising costs and limited options for placing the animals.

Of the 684 animals inside the shelter, 556 are cats or kittens, Morrison said.
