The Clear Lake Arts Center is featuring the work of North Iowa native Marlyn Ashland in a retrospective from Saturday, Aug. 9, through Friday, Sept. 12.
The opening reception for "Prodigal Son: A Retrospective," will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Ashland has donated more than 150 pieces of his original artwork, including paintings, ink drawings, landscapes, sketchbooks and greeting cards, to the Clear Lake Arts Center to be sold to raise funds for the CLAC.
His goal is to "get his art back in his original hometown and to help us with our mission of what we do," said Tom Dakin, events manager at the CLAC.
Ashland, 79, was born in Clear Lake. He began painting when he was in kindergarten. He moved with his family to the Northwood area when he was 15.
