HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Connecticut leads the nation with 98.3% of its kindergarteners vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).

This is the highest rate in the country and a 0.5-point gain from last year, according to new CDC data.

The rate places Connecticut among just 10 states achieving the 95% herd immunity threshold needed to prevent outbreaks.

The nation faces a resurgence in measles cases across 41 states.

So far in 2025, Connecticut remains measles-free, while neighboring states like New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island report cases.

In 2021, Connecticut eliminated religious vaccine exemptions for school, a measure experts say bolstered immunization rates.
