HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - An officer was justified in shooting at a suspect in Hartford more than a year ago.

The Office of the Inspector General released a report Friday on the shooting that happened on Wethersfield Avenue on April 27, 2024.

Inspector General Eliot Prescott said Hartford officer Devanand Budhoo fired two shots at Luis Ortiz.

Ortiz was being pursued because he tried to shoot another person following a fight, the inspector general said.

Police said the initial call was an “evading responsibility” complaint.
