NITRO, W.Va. — Seventeen years after their last postseason victory, the Nitro Wildcats broke through by advancing to the Class AAA quarterfinals in a 10-win season. The two losses for Nitro last season came against the two teams to play in the state title game in Bridgeport and Herbert Hoover. Despite losing their leading passer in Josh Moody and their leading rusher in Eli Littlejohn, the bulk of the roster returns for fifth-year head coach Boom McKinney.

“Everybody has one goal. Everybody wants to go to Charleston.” McKinney said. “That was a huge step in the program. It has been a long time for Nitro. We’re headed in the right direction.”
