Dangerous Kaukauna intersection gets federal funds for improvements

KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WBAY) - Outagamie County says federal funding will help a plan to improve a dangerous intersection .

The plan was approved by Kaukauna’s Department of Public Works at a meeting on Monday.

The plan creates a restricted crossing U-turn intersection where Fieldcrest Dr. crosses Highway CE near Quinney Elementary.

That means there would be no crossing the highway along Fieldcrest, and drivers would only be able to turn right onto County CE.

The federal funding is through the Highway Safety Improvement Program.

City alders unanimously agreed to the plan in a roll call vote. They said they don’t agree with the county administrative rule being applied to the project, but they want to keep the project moving forward in the interest of public safety.
