Troy Watson’s conversation to starting continued to go well and the offense beatdown the Bats again on Thursday.
Watson fired 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball, with that lone run in the first inning being unearned due to a throwing error by Jace Jung at third. He struck out three and scattered three hits, walking just one. The 28-year-old can run his fastball up to 97 mph and sits 94-95 mph but has used heavy doses of cutter, changeup, and sweeper in a starting role, pitching backwards quite a bit. He’s not a big time strikeout artist but he pounds the zone, doesn’t issue walks, and has had good success keeping the ball in the yard.
