A complaint from a Market Basket employee in charge of internal investigations portrays a headquarters at the grocery chain in which managers are intimidating those loyal to CEO Arthur T. Demoulas.

The letter to the company’s board of directors described an atmosphere “of fear and intimidation.” Without Demoulas — who has been on paid leave since late May — the office has become a place where people are afraid of speaking openly or asking questions about where the company stands without its longtime leader, the mid-July letter said.
