Circle Cinema and the Sapulpa Historical Society & Museum are presenting a free event Friday, Aug. 15 in commemoration of Victory in Japan Day and remembering Sapulpan Thomas Blakemore Jr., who played a pivotal role in World War II negotiations.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a special Blakemore display in the lobby. The display is courtesy of the Sapulpa Historical Society & Museum and Circle board member Joe Adwon. The photos and information in the exhibit provide insight into Blakemore’s life from his roots in Sapulpa, plus his time at Cambridge and Tokyo Imperial University, his role as legal officer under General Douglas MacArthur in WWII and his work in growing Japanese and U.S. relations after the war.
At 7 p.m., guests can move into the theater to view historical documentary
