LATTA, S.C. (WBTW) -- Allan Rogers has officially been named Chief of the Latta Police Department, according to the department's Facebook page.

Rogers, who was previously serving as the interim chief, was hired for the role permanently on Thursday.

"The Town of Latta is in great hands," the post reads. "We all look forward to working under Chief Rogers' leadership to advance our great city and the even greater citizens we proudly serve."

Rogers was honored in February by the South Carolina House of Representatives for his retirement from the Dillon County Sheriff's Office after a 35-year career in law enforcement.

He replaces Christopher Bryant, who, along with several others, had their certifications temporarily suspended over unpaid fines racked up by the department. Mayor Teresa Mas
