VAN BUREN, Maine (WABI & WAGM) - The Van Buren Fire Department responded swiftly to a structure fire that broke out just before noon Thursday.
A garage on Main street near GEM Machine Company was already engulfed by the time crews arrived on scene.
Crews were able to contain the fire, but the damage to the building was extensive and two vehicles inside were destroyed.
The owner of the structure burned his hands and received treatment at a hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Crews from Saint-Léonard New Brunswick as well as Grand Isle provided mutual aid. The Maine State Fire Marshal’s office will be investigating.
