British Gas, EDF, EON, Ovo, Octopus energy bills could be slashed by £250 a year if customers live close to pylons. The Labour Party government has unveiled a consultation proposing annual payments of £250 to residents living close to newly constructed electricity pylons.

Eligible households situated within 500 metres of new or enhanced electricity transmission infrastructure would receive financial compensation through reduced energy bills as part of the scheme.

Payments would be distributed as £125 reductions every six months over a ten-year period, amounting to £2,500 in total benefits. It would mean £250 a year off for hard-up and struggling British Gas, EDF, EON, Ovo, Octopus customers.
