ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Governor Hochul will be in Monroe County this weekend to discuss distraction-free schools.
The governor will join a roundtable discussion on implementing discussion-free schools. It is currently unclear who will be attending the roundtable.
This comes after all of New York's schools had to implement a "bell-to-bell" cell phone ban, which required all students to put their electronic devices away for the entire day. The deadline for all schools to have those specific policies was August 1.
However, News 8 learned recently that some schools missed the deadline to submit those plans. According to the governor's office, approximately 200 schools failed to implement these plans.
It's currently unknown if this roundtable discussion is related to the cell phone bans.
