BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A Northfield man has been charged, and entered a not guilty plea for the alleged possession and sale of firearms stolen from his deceased father.
A grand jury reportedly returned the indictment on 41-year-old Peter Baez on July 10. He pleaded guilty during an August 7 arraignment, where the judge ordered him to be released "on conditions pending trial".
The formal indictment alleges Baez sold these firearms to nearby gun stores and kept the proceeds. Said guns belonged to his deceased father, Pedro Baez, who fell ill and died in Fall 2024.
Pedro's home and property, firearms included, were left to his daughter in his will. Court officials note that Baez committed these illegal acts despite "having notice of the terms of his father’s estate".
If convicted
