Swanton Village, Vt (ABC22/FOX44) - Located at the intersection of Route 36, Route seven, and Route 78, the densely populated Village of Swanton can be a confusing area to navigate.
"We have approximately 11,000 vehicles coming through the Village every day," says grant specialist Heidi Britch-Valenta. "It's challenging for vehicles, let alone people on foot or bike."
Back in 2020, the Village conducted a safety study, which confirmed it as a high crash area.
Those findings have since prompted officials to take action and apply for funding to improve safety for all travelers.
A $300,000 grant will be used to improve intersections, crosswalks, and ADA access to shops on Merchants Row.
