“COMING SOON to Indiana: The Speedway Slammer!”
When I first saw this social media post Tuesday, it sounded like a brilliantly marketed soft drink at a national chain of gas stations in the Hoosier State. Possibly a customized cocktail of Mountain Dew, Red Bull and Nitro Pepsi.
As we now know, it’s the nickname for a brilliantly marketed detention center in downstate Indiana for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to utilize when detaining and deporting “the worst of the worst,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.
“If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Indiana’s Speedway Slammer,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem trumpeted in a statement .
