(The Hill) -- The Trump administration is putting up a series of new barriers for renewable energy projects — following through on an apparent promise to hard-line conservatives while rankling moderate Republicans.

The moves are expected to create issues for the renewable energy industry, and critics argue that they could raise power prices.

“If you're a rational Republican senator who wants to keep the lights on [and] keep electricity affordable, these are terrible policies,” said Leah Stokes, an environmental politics professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
