FARGO — The Frontier Conference had its virtual media days for football and volleyball earlier this week, an exercise that showed the NAIA league's offseason growth.
Valley City State, Mayville State, Dakota State and Dickinson State were among the new additions in both sports. They all moved over from the North Star Athletic Association, which dissolved after this past school year.
Bismarck State, which is transitioning to the NAIA from junior college, was among the new league members in volleyball, along with Bellevue (Neb.) University.
“It definitely feels a lot more real than it did a year ago," said Valley City State head football coach Dennis McCulloch, who is also the university's athletic director.
