100 years ago
As of Aug. 3, 1925, the first dill pickles produced by the Pheasant Pickling Company were on sale. Available at H.T. Schroeder’s Grocery for about a week, the store featured the first barrel sold by the company. Production was set to increase to an average of three cars of pickles and condiments shipped per day, according to plant manager H.P. Loy. Many customers attested to the pickles’ quality, asserting it was “second to none.”
