Aldi is doubling its store count in Northeast Florida with its conversion of the 13 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores it bought from Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers.
Before the purchase, Aldi had 13 stores in the area.
It now is more than halfway – 14 stores open, a 15th due in weeks – toward that total of opening 26 stores.
The closures and openings are moving quickly, so it’s a challenge to keep up.
But so far, of the stores it bought, Aldi has opened two and another is scheduled to open this month.
Of the remaining 10, four more are identified to open by early next year.
Aldi Regional Vice President Matt Thon said in an emailed statement Aug. 6 that the company had plans for those openings by early 2026.
