WRIGLEYVILLE — The Moya family is the kind where everyone lives just houses or a few blocks apart in Melrose Park. Birthdays, graduations, family reunions and dinners without an occasion are all spent together.
The Moya family is bound not only by blood but also by a shared love of the Chicago Cubs, the team that has been the backdrop for many of their biggest moments.
In recent months, that closeness has been strengthened even more as the family’s patriarch, 72-year-old Cesario Moya, is in the final stage of a terminal illness. For months, they carried that weight quietly, leaning only on each other.
